WADSWORTH, Ill.

Being married to a minister has never been the desire of author Sandra J. Atwater. So when her husband was called by God to serve the church in 1975, she was not prepared for the life that being a minister's wife would entail. In her debut nonfiction "Serving the Servant" (published by Xlibris), she reveals the challenges and secret struggles a minister's wife has to deal with in order to fulfill her obligations to herself, her husband and the Church.

The book offers a look into the often misconstrued life of a minister's family. Atwater sheds light into what it is like to bear the load of responsibilities and expectations placed upon her by society. Being a mother to her children, a wife to her husband and an anchor of the congregation require colossal efforts that are often veiled from the knowledge of many.

"A minister's wife is just as important to the minister as he is to the Church," Atwater believes. "She is the one who is supporting his efforts and probably doing more to see that his ministry is successful."

With drawn insights from over 40 years of personal experience, including input from other ministers' wives she has interviewed, "Serving the Servant" is an eye-opening exposé of the true meaning of sacrifice, faith and character from the rare perspective of the women behind ministerial work.
