"I vant you should write this down. I vant people should know my story."

Lea Lazega was larger than life. A strong, independent and fearless woman who survived Poland's ghettos, the bleakness of the Holocaust and fleeing war torn Europe by not following the crowd. Fast forward fifty years and her now-American family must struggle with how to manage a woman who time and again eluded catastrophe by refusing to be told what to do.

"Everyone who knew her said her life and her experiences had to become a book and a movie," said her grandson, North Miami Beach attorney, Russel Lazega, the proud author of Managing Bubbie.

As with all families, the Lazega clan only wants the best for their Bubbie and want to ensure that their matriarch's twilight years are spent in comfort, safety, and serenity. But how do you manage an aging, immutably stubborn Holocaust survivor who needs help with the unthinkable - "survival"? You probably don't.

Filled with hope and humor, Lea's story, Managing Bubbie has been published and is now a book to be shared with the world for generations to come.

"I have been writing this family memoir since I was in college. Bubbie's story is one of hope and survival that inspired our family. It's a story of sacrifice and determination and the lengths a mother will go to for her children," he added.

Russel Lazega tells his Bubbie's story with compassion, humor and dead on accuracy from her days as a young woman, raising a family and finally her last years.

According to Lazega, Managing Bubbie has universal appeal. "I am getting emails from as far away as China saying things like: 'Wow, my grandmother was exactly like that' or 'That reminds me of my mother's story," Lazega said. "She plotted, she schemed, she survived - all to make her way to America."

"Managing Bubbie is a hilarious family memoir that recounts the frequently hectic, ever-exhausting trials of my family as we try to oversee the care of our elderly, unmanageable Lea Lazega," Lazega stated.

He takes the reader behind the scenes as they scramble for an acceptable assisted living facility and struggle to get her medication in line, they discover the difficulties of controlling a woman who survived some of history's greatest horrors by not listening to the advice of others.

A tapestry of an American family in the 1980's, Managing Bubbie also revisits the Holocaust period to mine the love, hope and humor that emerged from the deepest despair. Anyone who savors a soft heart with a sharp funny bone will laugh, cry and commiserate with the confounded family who must manage their beloved, impossible Bubbie.
