Rita Rangel Releases New Memoir

Rita Rangel is a "P.K.," or pastor's kid. She says that many hold P.K.s to higher standards than other children due to their parents and their role in the church. For Rangel, this was doubly the case, as both of her parents were pastors.

Rangel chronicles her arduous journey in her new inspirational memoir "I was a P.K....: Who Would Have Known" (published by WestBow Press), which details the troubled path she went down and her return journey to faith.

In "I was a P.K....," readers watch Rangel slowly stray away from the faith-filled life her parents desire for her and instead embark down a path of crime. From her time as an innocent P.K. to marrying the leader of a ruthless prison gang and ending up in jail herself, Rangel leaves no stone unturned as she allows readers to experience even her darkest of moments.

"I thought I had forfeited my right to finish my book until the Lord spoke to me years later, about how it was just another chapter," Rangel says.

Rangel hopes her book will help readers understand how P.K.s and those in ministry feel and how the negative consequences of church legalistic practices affect their lives.
