Because families expressed their fears about admitting loved ones into a nursing home, Ann Marie Gallogly decided to write a guide to help them out. That new guide, "Alzheimer's - Dementia: Find the Best Nursing Home with Sister Ann" (published by AuthorHouse UK), is written in layman's language by a nurse to advise people on how nursing homes operate.

The author says she wants the book to provide "hope for the future for the residents and families that they can have a valuable life with the support of the nursing home."

An excerpt from "Alzheimer's - Dementia":
Do you know what goes on behind the closed front door of a care home? Do you know how to recognise good care in a care home, especially an Alzheimer's care home? Do you know what is good versus bad practice in feeding, personal care, environment, dealing with challenging behavior, pain relief, and sedation? Would you recognise abuse in the care home? If your answer to any of these questions is no, then this book will be of invaluable help to you.
