Author Samuel R. Merritt Sr. uncovers a collection of poetry in his publication, "Images of the Heart" (published by Xlibris). These poems are largely influenced by the author's insights about emotions, feelings and life in general. Told from the perspective of each subject's persona, every poem opens doors to a different realm - original, unique and exquisitely captivating.

A collection of poems that says: "If a picture is worth a thousand words, does it take a thousand words to paint a picture in your mind about what is being seen or felt? Can these make you a part of what is being said or felt from what you are reading?" Merritt explores everything - from everyday happenings, feelings and relationships to fears, hopes and desires. They are all about remembrances and memories, past or fantasized. Each poem tells its own story in its own way. They relate the hope of feelings that others want to express to another. Yet these words are stated through the view and incite of the poet.

"I had been challenged by many friends to enter a poetry contest, in which I won," Meritt says. "From then I was inspired and asked to write more poems. Some requests were for personal reasons; others were from observations of other's actions."

Refreshing and heartwarming, "Images of the Heart" mirrors a multifarious array of topics to beautifully capture the phases of joy, sadness, passion and happiness that humans go through in their everyday lives.

About the Author
Samuel Reneildo Merritt was the youngest of 16 children born to the same parents: Bertram Theodore Merritt and Theresa Juanita (Dyson) Merritt. All of their children were gifted and talented in different ways. Ever since middle school, he was interested in the meaning of words and their origin. Definitions changed over time as colleges and society sought to standardize meanings. His love for writing poetry began with the love of a young lady in high school. He found it easier to express his feelings to her in poem than with straight conversations. He is also the author of Images of the HEART: The Author's Mind," a book that explains in detail the inspiration for each poem and a line by line explanation of each stanza and the thinking process behind each line.
