SPARTA, N.J.

Author Armando DeMarchi typifies teen angst, courage and vulnerability in his newest poetry book, "Outta My Mind: Poems from the Other Side of Sanity" (published by iUniverse).

According to DeMarchi, he writes from "the perspective of the young mind" for his young peers as "a heartfelt and honest, unedited version of teenage pain," which includes witty wordplay and humorous tones. He hopes his poetry will leave young readers with "a sense of pride and fulfillment."

An excerpt from "Outta My Mind":

The limber space between sleep and consciousness,
Is where I like to spend my time.
Deciphering the state of my awareness,
And dividing the real from the illusions.

When dreams become routine
And a line of familiarity is etched into my dreamscapes,
How can you tell which is which?"
