CONCORD, N.H., Feb. 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ Dr. Alan R. Gaby, a leading medical expert on dietary modifications, nutritional supplements, and other natural substances, has published his second edition of Nutritional Medicine.

This science-based and meticulously referenced textbook is written for healthcare practitioners and discusses hundreds of nutritional therapies that can be used as effective, low-cost, low-risk alternatives or adjuncts to conventional medicine.

For 35 years, Dr. Gaby has reviewed and analyzed more than 40,000 published studies. Combining this knowledge with his extensive clinical experience, he has helped thousands of practitioners to develop an expertise in nutritional therapies through his writings and lectures.

The first edition of Nutritional Medicine, published in 2011, sold thousands of copies in 32 countries to physicians, nurses, naturopaths, chiropractors, pharmacists, dietitians, nutritionists, acupuncturists, and non-practitioners seeking holistic approaches.

William Manahan, M.D., Assistant Professor Emeritus at the Department of Family Medicine, University of Minnesota Academic Health Center, said, "Every practitioner should have a copy of Nutritional Medicine on their desk."

Nutritional Medicine, Second Edition includes all information found in the first edition, and adds a great deal of new information with 1,700 additional reference citations from the most recent medical literature. There are 342 chapters that address 400 health conditions including high blood pressure, arthritis, migraines, asthma, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, dry eyes, fibromyalgia, depression, insomnia, eczema, premenstrual syndrome, heart failure, viral infections, and more.

The textbook also discusses the fundamentals of nutritional medicine including:

  • Reactive hypoglycemia, food allergy, "sub-laboratory" hypothyroidism, candidiasis, and effects of cooking methods on health.
