New Thriller, THE BUTTERFLY CODE, is Released

In her book The Butterfly Code, Wyshynski uses fiction to explore the emerging transhumanism movement, one that seeks to make humans into superhumans through technological and medical advances.

Wyshynski has predicted, conceptualized, and developed culturally iconic technologies that have been embraced worldwide. Her work underlies Microsoft's Kinect, and was the forerunner to Google's Street View.

Microsoft's Kinect lets players control video games using full-body gestures, and is based on motion-capture technology Wyshynski and two partners developed in 1989. Their breakthrough invention wonnumerous awards and appeared in textbooks,scientific journals, newspapers, and magazines.

In 1992, a brainstorming session with Eric Gullichsen (who coined the term Cyberspace), led Wyshynski and Gullichsen to see the need for 360 degree photos that you could "look around inside." They were awarded numerous patents for their Virtual TV invention. VTV is the forerunner to Google Map's Street View that lets you "look around" at the street level.

As far back as the '90s, Wyshynski had stories on her mind. In a 1995 quote, Wyshynski said, "VTV360 has brought traditional film and TV into the VR realm, and put production tools back into the hands of storytellers."

Wyshynski left the cyberspace-computing world, because in her view, "Books are still the ultimate virtual reality."

The Butterfly Code explores transhumanism and the futurist movement as a means to immortality. Wyshynski calls uponscience by using genetic material fromthe biologically immortal scarlet jellyfish (Turritopsis dohrnii) to modify human beings.Shealso looks at next generation robotic implants.

The Butterfly Code paints a believable near future, raising questions about where humanity is headed. By including romance and action, Wyshynski wanted to reach as many readers as possible.

Already, the book is garnering attention.
