Grants Pass, Ore.

Author Scott Crabtree initially set out to write a screenplay, but soon realized what he was writing was a new fantasy adventure book like the ones that had captured his imagination. "Wizardry, Part I" (published by iUniverse) is the first book in a planned series. Crabtree hopes this book will inspire a new generation of readers pulled into unique stories of heroism.

Crabtree says, "I always enjoyed those adventures that touch the inner child within all of us, no matter how old one gets. Whether it is rafting down the Mississippi River with Huckleberry Finn, exploring the wondrous Land of Oz with Dorothy, traveling the world's oceans with Captain Nemo, stopping the motor of the world with John Galt, learning magic with Harry Potter or the Jedi arts with Luke Skywalker, these are the stories that would inspire any of us to imagine."

"Wizardry, Part I" tells of young Jartan, a 15-year-old boy who doesn't realize the hero he will become. When Kordon, the most powerful and evil wizard to live, and his demon prince son Karza unleash a great evil upon the land, Jartan is the only one who can defeat them. With the guidance of Modex, a mysterious old wizard with a twisted past, Jartan will learn that heroes are not born, but formed in the crucible of danger and peril.

An excerpt from "Wizardry, Part I":

"The Underworld's influence continues to plunge the boy ever deeper into a hysterical state of fear and his body trembles even more violently. Modex doubles his effort to shake the fear out of the boy's body by shouting Jartan's name even louder, and only several strong slaps from the wizard finally bring Jartan out of his terror-stricken condition."
