Linda Look's "Prem's Adventures: Book 1: ...to the market" (published by Balboa Press) is the first book in a series of four. Each book contains 10 fables that are focused on a 12-year-old boy's journey in Asia. The books can be read individually or as a set.

The fables have been selected to present a comprehensive set of morals and concepts, ranging from Western values of self-reliance to Eastern values of oneness. The fables represent Buddhist, Taoist, Zen, Sufi, Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Hindu, African, Native American and New Thought traditions.

Each fable is enhanced by enchanting illustrations by artist and illustrator Crystal McLaughlin.

An excerpt of "Feathers in the Wind" from "Prem's Adventures": He told the girl to take a feather pillow to the market, cut the pillow open, and toss the feathers into the air. Next, she should collect all the feathers and bring them back to him. Then she would understand what she had done.
