A novel and cookbook, author Valerie Hart's new book, "My Best Life: An Autobiography by Sakie" (published by Archway Publishing), follows a cat through her autobiography of all of her lives, each story followed by a historic or modern recipe.

Sakie is a 22-pound 18-year-old historian, philosopher and dreamer known to her friends and family as a food aficionado. Sensitive, poignant and humorous, she hastens to write her autobiography in her last hours. With details of her escapades with her present family, she shares adventures of her three other lives and the lives of cats she has met that tell their own stories as the protagonists that changed history.

A gourmet cat that quotes Voltaire, Thoreau and Descartes, Sakie offers an almost-human expression of history, philosophy and humor as she remembers her past lives while fearing there might not be another.

"This is a book not only for cat lovers, but also for anyone who wants a good reading experience," Hart says. "This is my own topic, my own cat, my own recipes."
