It has been said that money buys happiness. At least money buys material items that people believe will bring happiness into their lives.

"The Prodigal" by Janice Parker tells the exciting and romantic story of one man who thought he had everything, only to find how empty his previous life had really been.

Through his expensive cars, the beautiful women in his life and a villa in Cannes, Clint thought he possessed all that he could ever want. That is until he is invited to join his friend and his friend's sister on a mission trip to a small village in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Suddenly exposed to a laborious daily routine in a stifling climate, Clint is able to see just how far removed he is from the extravagant and shallow life he had been living. Clint was surprised to find the people in South Africa as warm and comforting- finally finding the love and peace he had been searching for.

"I have written a book which gives the reader understanding of how trials and tests can produce perseverance and maturity," said Parker. "People will understand the depth of God's grace and the unconditional love of a father."

When Clint is taken captive by rebel forces and held somewhere in the fierce jungle of the Democratic Republic of Congo, trapped and alone, he fears he will never see the woman he loves ever again.

"This is a story of one man's journey to find happiness and the true meaning of life," said Parker.
