To many children, summer means vacation: no school, swimming pools, and unlimited playtime make the warmer months their favorite time of year. Author Kevin Christofora hopes to contribute a new reason to children's love of summer, by teaching them to love his passion: baseball. America's favorite pastime inspired him to write his children's baseball book, Magic Bat Day (Clarens Publishing), which is the second installment of his The Hometown All-Stars Series.

Magic Bat Day is a perfect summer companion for every child. Younger kids can gain their first introduction to the sport through Christofora's book and benefit from the games and lessons the author includes. The simple prose can challenge beginning readers with an array of new words, and somewhat older kids can really begin to learn the rules of the game. The educational aspect of Christofora's books makes them great bedtime reading, helping children retain basic arithmetic as well as the many lessons baseball teaches, like teamwork.

Magic Bat Day, which is due for release on May 15th, is also a fun and interactive story that encourages children to be active. Kids can collect the series and follow the progress of the Hometown All-Stars team with every new book. Says Christofora, "Baseball is a noble yet accessible sport that can teach children countless life lessons, and I hope to inspire legions of new fans through my books." A delightful story full of fun and learning, Magic Bat Day is sure to become a summer favorite for children all over.
