LIVINGSTON, Calif.

Leona Koehn Nichols was born into a loving Holdeman Mennonite family and she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ at age ten. Growing up within the ultraconservative culture, Nichols fully expected to spend her life as a faithful member of the Mennonite community.

However, after marrying a minister's son, Nichols and her husband welcomed six children into their life. As the children got older and decisions regarding what they would or would not be allowed to do began to immerge, so did the questions related to their faith.

Nichols offers inspiration to readers searching to discover, accept and love themselves for who they have become in her poignant new memoir, "Other Loves All Flee." In the book, Nichols candidly recalls difficult times after embracing conflicting views resulted in her family's excommunication from their religion.

"Although the church was reluctant to excommunicate my family, I trusted that God had a plan for us and that we would survive this religious transition," said Nichols. "As difficult as it was, my family became aware of new opportunities as we created a new life together."

In "Other Loves All Flee," Nichols helps readers embrace what is within their hearts and supports them as they search for courage to speak out against tradition.
