Inspired by the need to preserve and share the inspiring and educational story of the previous glorious and peaceful faith and traditions of the Mennonites, Kenneth David Brubacher releases his latest book titled "Mennonite Cobbler: Balancing Faith and Tradition in a Turbulent World" (published by AuthorHouse). This historical autobiography, as told from the firsthand experiences of the author, chronicles the hard and honest journey of a man trying to balance the traditions of his history against the workings of the modern world.

"Mennonite Cobbler" is the account of a family having left the Old Order Mennonite faith and yet not having been assimilated into the religious and social community of the present time. The author, as an Old Order Mennonite faithful, tells his story in a humorous insightful manner, expressing a treatment of a very puzzling childhood in a time of social transition.

"While we were supposed to be free now, in the sense of religious expression and belief, in reality we never really shook the rules of our traditional past," Brubacher explains. "The result was an often puzzling-and hilarious-set of household rules which satisfied neither camp, and we were often hung out to dry caught in the middle between our old faith and traditions, and the socio-economic norms of our environment. We were no longer Mennonite, but had not made it into the world of the heathen Lutherans either."

Through what the author coins as "a book of balance," he imparts to the readers the way to achieve "quiet enjoyment" by pausing from the daily stress of life and joining him in a journey of sorting out the perfect balance between tradition and current reality in this non-judgmental narrative filled with humor and lessons.
