"Crossing Over: Affirmations of Faith in the Midst of the Dying" (published by WestBow Press) shares accounts of dying patients who have allowed those holding vigil to glimpse into the supernatural as their lives ended. With her debut book, author June E. Kuykendall, RN, BSN, CHPN, hopes to help readers spiritually and practically gain insight into providing care to terminal patients.

"I was inspired to write the accounts of those that were crossing over in death who knowingly or unknowingly, gave glimpses to me of what was waiting on the other side. These accounts strengthened my faith that there is a real place called heaven, and hell," Kuykendall says. "I wanted others, both healthcare workers and families, to be observant to behaviors as well as to conversations from those transitioning at death."

She adds that the book will open the eyes of caregivers at the bedsides of dying patients. "They need to look, listen and feel what that dying loved one is saying and this book will assist them to be better able to interpret what is being said."
