SAN FRANCISCO

According to the National Library of Medicine, one in every 4,000 people has retinitis pigmentosa, a degenerative eye disease. The National Library of Medicine also states that one in every 150,000 people has paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia, a rare disorder that causes sporadic muscle behavior or involuntary movements. For author Joseph K. Chan, these two diseases are more than a statistic - they're a reality.

Chan invites readers to walk in his shoes with his new autobiography " The Way I See It: A Candid Review of Lessons from Life So Far" (published by iUniverse), which aims to bring inspiration and hope.

Chan chronicles his life thus far and gives readers a candid view of his life in "The Way I See It." He discusses his two unique medical conditions and their even more inimitable combination, highlighting the ways in which they challenged him and how they helped him find God and live life to its fullest. He also discusses his stance on God and Jesus, framing the dialogue with his life experiences.

"Humility is the foundation of learning," Chan says. "One of the most important lessons from coping with my birth defects is that God does not make anything that is defective or junk. This point of view has helped me in exploring my full potential."
