Author Morton Freedgood worked first as a public relations writer at the motion picture studios then published short stories in magazines, but he achieved the most success penning crime fiction novels under the alias John Godey. The Snake and the bestselling The Taking of Pelham 123, published by RosettaBooks, will continue to thrill readers with page-turning suspense, now in eBook.

"RosettaBooks is thrilled to expand the already proven success of John Godey crime fiction into the digital space," said Arthur Klebanoff, CEO of RosettaBooks.

Central Park will never look the same once The Snake becomes part of the digital library. A sailor returning home is mugged, but the thief might have moved on had he known his victim carried one of the world's most deadly snakes. The smuggled black mamba eludes captivity, making an afternoon at the Park a life-threatening venture. The fast-paced action edges the search along for the dangerous reptile as the City panics.

The Taking of Pelham 123, a 1973 bestseller, was first made into a movie in 1974 starring Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw and was recently remade in 2009 with Denzel Washington and John Travolta.

The story follows four men as they hijack a subway train, demanding one million dollars in exchange for the hostages. The story is uniquely told from each of the hijacker's point-of-view, allowing readers to discover the intricacies behind their motivations and interactions. As plans go awry, passengers take advantage of opportunities to turn the tables on the criminals.

The eBooks are available on Kindle, Nook, Apple, Barnes and Noble and Kobo for $8.99.
