Jessica R. Kratz, author of The Lucky Lighhouse, has always been inspired by the natural treasures and scenic wonders of her hometown of Staten Island NY, where she has lived nearly her entire life. Walks along the forests, wetlands, and waterfronts of her beloved borough have inspired many of her musings.

Jessica holds a B.A. in Social Studies 7-12 from St. John's University, Staten Island and an M.A. in History from the College of Staten Island. While never a formal classroom history teacher, her literary works are driven by the desire to share our natural and cultural history.

A former NYC Urban Park Ranger, Jessica is now the Nature Center Coordinator, Greenbelt Nature Center, a role she has held since January 2008.

In October 2016, Jessica was voted Best Artist- Written in the Reader's Choice poll of her hometown newspaper, the Staten Island Advance. In addition to amazon.com, the book is being sold at local community organizations, including Greenbelt Nature Center and The National Lighthouse Museum, and she hopes to expand this list in the upcoming months. On Sunday October 30th 2-4pm, Jessica will have a book reading/signing as part of the National Lighthouse Museum's "Fright House". On Thursday November 10th 7-9pm, there will be a book launch/signing at Staten Island Arts' Culture Lounge in the St. George Ferry Terminal. Look for more events this autumn and as we enter the holiday season.
