J.E. Klimek Releases LEFT TO WRITE

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - When he was five years old, author J.E. Klimek had herpes encephalitis, leaving him with temporal lobe epilepsy which made it awkward for him to try and communicate by voice. He found the best way to express what he held inside through writing poetry. "Left to Write" (published by Xlibris) reveals a compilation of poetry that chronicles the process of fighting his epilepsy and embracing where it leads him.

In this collection of poems, Klimek takes readers through a search and discovery of life and death bringing regret and hope to create meaning and purpose. Divided in three groups, the first part speaks about the author's struggle with speaking properly and coordination. The second part is about fighting with himself to find how to work around the weakness. The third section is about the acceptance of his condition and where it will lead him. Each poem works together to show the pattern that can be revealed in the chaos of trials. They aim to help others find what motivation they may be missing. With a mixture of different forms, mostly blank verse and free verse, "Left to Write" is written openly for readers' imagination to take them where it wishes.

"I find that we are so against prejudices that we ignore the prejudice that can place on us as individuals," Klimek says. "We are solely focused on how others see us and view our opinions. This causes us to push our strengths and hide the "failures," instead of restraining strengths from harming others and correcting, or using, our faults."

About the Author
Born in Lynwood, Illinois, J.E. Klimek was five when he had an eight-hour seizure. He was later diagnosed with herpes encephalitis. Since then, he had had temporal lobe seizures. He later found it easier to write what was on his mind to make sure that he was using the words that he wanted to. Hearing that writing with one's left hand can exercise the other side of one's brain, he began to grow used to doing so while writing his poetry to keep his brain more "balanced."
