Fontana, CA.

Author, freelance writer and high school student Elias T. Esparza says that he, like many teenagers, often doesn't speak his mind to his parents. Unlike many teenagers, though, Esparza is ready to speak for himself and teenagers everywhere.

In his new book "The Tell of Me" (published by iUniverse), Esparza speaks his mind and details the many troubles teenagers face growing up.

"I saw things growing up that didn't make sense to me," Esparza says. "I wondered to myself, 'Is anyone going to help that person through what they're dealing with right now?'"

Throughout "The Tell of Me," Esparza describes the anti-awareness he sees in homes and schools. He believes that many adults, and teachers in particular, are disconnected from what is going on in teenagers' and students' lives.

"My book is there to open up minds that are trapped in the shadows of success," Esparza says. "It is also a reminder to parents and teachers to not give up on any child. We are not stupid; we are minds that need help to succeed in the future."
