HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark.

A grandfather's memoir blends with a farewell message for a grandson in the new book by Bill Might, "My Pal" (published by Balboa Press).

"My Pal" centers on one family's shared, multigenerational living arrangement that comes to an abrupt end when a career opportunity causes the family's youngest to relocate.

"Along with the farewell message is a bit of reminiscing about the good times the two of them shared," Might says of his book. "The message is 'Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened'."

Might hopes his book's message resonates with readers who currently live in multigenerational homes with multiple family members. He says his book will show that having mixed feelings about any separation is acceptable and not a show of shame or fear.

An excerpt from "My Pal":

"You're now further away - I can't hug you as much. But I'll always be with you even though we can't touch."
