Founder of Peaceful Prison Movement Chronicles Experiences In New Memoir

On January 18, 2011, twelve inmates, housed inside of one of Georgia's most violent prisons, signed a peace pledge. The reasons for signing varied. Some signed to honor the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., one of the world's most infamous non-violent activists. Some signed as a challenge for themselves, for men who had been written off and cast away by the system. Men who were being held, literally, on the wrong side of the tracks.

The biggest reason these men signed the pledge, however, was their hope and need for peace in an environment built to accommodate its absence. And thus began the Power of Peace Project.

Now going four years strong, Kit Cummings, founder and president of the POPP, has heard and witnessed firsthand the fascinating, tragic and hopeful stories of people worldwide as a result of the Power of Peace movement. Having written Forty Days to Peace, 40 Days to Freedom, and 40 Days of Prayer chronicling the lives of those first twelve, brave men, Kit is focusing his new release, Peace Behind the Wire, on the growth and evolution of a movement that has spread across North America, to both schools and prisons in the U.S., to South Africa, Mexico, and even the Ukraine.
