Author and psychic Evette Brown takes readers to the darker side of spirituality for a close and personal look at what it's truly like to see ghosts and spirits in her new memoir, "Scary Little Secrets: Diary of a Psychic Naturopath" (published by Balboa Press).

"I was guided to write this book, it was the next step on my journey," says Brown. "I wanted to share my experiences of the pitfalls of spirituality and psychic attack."

Brown's autobiography covers the growths and transformations of her life as a psychic, including what she calls the "not-so-nice" side. From a young age, Brown was able to see ghosts and auras, an ability that grew stronger as she got older. Persistent health concerns led her to alternative medicine, and she eventually chose to become a naturopath. Though her ability has helped others, Brown's experiences haven't always been pleasant or easy. Premonitions, spirit attachments and psychic attacks have plagued her through life, but Brown has grown stronger and realized her true purpose.

"Scary Little Secrets" reaches out to others seeking to improve spiritual and physical health. Brown's goal is to create a network of support for those who have had spiritual encounters and are looking for answers and guidance.

"We live in a world of new age spirituality. People are seeking health, self-awareness, purpose and meaning to life," Brown writes. "Most want to heal themselves in some way, or improve their quality of life or find answers to why we are here."
