EDMONTON, Alberta

A terrible demon threatens the world, and there is only one minstrel who can stop him in Eric B. Swanson's newest novel, "The First Candle" (published by Trafford Publishing).

In a post-apocalyptic world, village minstrel Martin Longbow remains woefully ignorant of the works of the ageless demon Prince Agares, who seeks to destroy his last opponents and rule all. When Martin's best friend Jack is tortured, Martin learns of a new reality and what must be done to save his world.

Together with four unique allies, Martin acts as a candle to guide men and women to aid him in battle - not one against flesh and blood, but an ultimate spiritual battle for the souls of a desolate world.

Praise for "The First Candle":

"'The First Candle' is set in an extensively imagined post-apocalyptic world that includes all the components of a good sci-fi novel. Martin Longbow is hunted by demons, escapes from mutants, and battles with the legionnaires of an epic foe."
- Warren Swift, U.S. Review of Books
