CORONA, Calif.

A narrative of faith and courage, Dorothy Minchin-Comm's "Give Me This Mountain" (published by Trafford Publishing) takes a look at the life of surgeon David Turay, a young man from Sierra Leone whose triumph over poverty is a shining example of what can happen when educational opportunities are available.

Minchin-Comm learned of Turay's miraculous journey from Dr. Robert Horner, whose assignment to work with lepers opened the way for a connection with Sierra Leone and Turay's miraculous story.

"This book will be an inspiration to young people throughout the world that believe they have 'no chance,'" Minchin-Comm says.

Nineteen-year-old Turay hoped to go to medical school in Mexico and received plenty of encouragement from his friends in his village in Africa. Despite the obstacles he faced, he worked hard to achieve his dreams and become a trauma surgeon.

"I want readers to take away a knowledge of African history and colonialism as well as leprosy and ebola," Minchin-Comm says. "It is also my hope that they will be inspired by Turay's humility and grace."
