"The Coast Is Not Clear" is the creation of published author, David Johnson, his first novel following careers in public education and the private sector. After entering retirement, he quickly got to work on a novel that would reflect his knowledge of history, geography, and political science. An occasional contributor to the editorial pages of newspapers and a prolific writer in his own blog, he turned to writing with a desire to inform and entertain readers. During his years teaching early American History, he learned from his students as much as they learned from him. His desire to lifelong learning keeps the author reading and writing much of the time. His writing offers an opportunity to share his beliefs and points out the social injustice when it rears its ugly head. He has written essays concerning questionable behaviors, from a moral standpoint. There is no place or time, in the author's mind, for exploitation by people degrading the planet, or for mistreating animals.
