In his latest book of short stories, "From Ouisconsin to Caughnawaga: Or Tales of the Great Lakes First Nations" (published by Trafford Publishing), author David D. Plain uses historical fact to give readers a better understanding of the Great Lakes region. The book covers the events that shaped the cultural and historical identity of the Great Lakes region between 1618 and 1818 but with a distinct First Nations perspective.

The collection of short stories takes the reader into the colonial era where they will encounter famous characters such as George Washington, James Wolfe, Isaac Brock and Daniel Boone. The tumultuous history of the region is seen through the eyes of First Nations characters as they witness the many conflicts and wars fought over their land.

Readers will also recognize many significant historical events like the Battle of Moraviantown, the establishment of Detroit and the fall of Fort William Henry. The stories also include lesser-known incidents and events that were influential in shaping the Great Lakes region.

As Plain states, "I want the readers to enjoy the stories, but I also want them to come away with a new and fuller appreciation for the history of the Great Lakes region."
