LONDON

Detective Sergeant Oliver Soames of the Metropolitan Police is called to investigate the murder-suicide of a young couple in a London suburb and subsequently becomes inducted into the hidden Metropolitan Special Circumstances Executive (MSCE) police force in the new fiction by David A. Xavier, "The Puppet Master: An MSCE Investigation" (published by Trafford Publishing).

Oliver's induction into the MSCE brigade does not come without secrets. The covert branch is dedicated to monitoring and enforcing laws upon people with extraordinary powers.

Through his work with the MSCE, Oliver gets a glimpse of the killer involved in the recent murder-suicide, but wrestles with his pride, emotions and instincts while trying to bring the killer to justice.

"I believe the central character of Oliver Soames is a well-meaning, flawed, intelligent member of society who is forced to face something he is not ready to accept," Xavier says. "I think this is a very relatable situation and that most people will be able to find a point of sympathy with him. The story also has a healthy dose of action, thrills and the preternatural. I see this appealing to the sensationalist streak that is encouraged in today's media society."
