Rumors about an abandoned house being haunted draws in 14-year-old Laura Mueller one fateful summer night, an action that, unbeknownst to her, would change her life forever in Darrell Tooker's suspenseful debut novel, "The Lords of Hanrahan" (published by iUniverse). Tooker enters the suspense genre with a young woman, seized at a vulnerable time in her life and magically transported to a village called Hanrahan, sometime in the 19th century.

Years after her first encounter with the old McPherson place, Laura is Laura Walters and seven months pregnant. The house's powers summon Laura back, and she finds herself transported back in time, with no apparent method of escape. Her family is left without any idea of what evil may have befallen her, and Laura finds out she isn't the house's first victim either.

An excerpt from "The Lords of Hanrahan":

"'This must be a dream,' she thought as she plodded forward, staying close to that right wall and keeping her eyes peeled for any danger. 'Wonder when I'll wake up,' she mused. However, it didn't really feel like a dream to her."

Laura spends every waking moment trying to find a way back home, vowing to get back even if it takes the rest of her life, which it very well might.
