Author Dan Mayur says he has been inspired by the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi. He wanted to share with his readers the benefits of what he learned in the School of Hard-knocks. That prompted him to write his life story in "The Four Ls - A Memoir: Laughing, Learning, Loving and Living" (published by Xlibris).

The book traces a fascinating story of Mayur's life from his humble beginnings in rural India to corporate leadership in America. It is about the people, places and experiences that influenced and shaped his personality and thinking. The book presents lessons for life derived from these experiences through entertaining personal stories.

"In a sense, this is everybody's story," Mayur says. "Whoever has experienced the vicissitudes of life, worked hard and stayed firm in the pursuit of excellence can relate to this book. A common man can attain uncommon happiness and enjoy the real beauty of life if he has faith in himself and does the things the book suggests."

He proposes that material wealth, position and power are short-lived and suggests that continuous learning, genuinely loving and heartily laughing are necessary and sufficient for real happiness in life.
