Debut author Steven Pollack, in his new book "Don't Quote Me" (published by Balboa Press), provides observations on everyday life mixed in with relatable quotes. "I thought it might be refreshing," he says, "to hear an honest, flawed, straight-to-the-point perspective."

"Don't Quote Me" represents the culmination of a lifetime's observations and information, sprinkled with some honest and logical advice from Pollack and other people who run the range from rock 'n' roll stars to athletes, politicians, poets and writers and famous people from all walks of life.

An example from "Don't Quote Me":
Pollack writes: "We are all so concerned with perception and reputation, that we disregard our gut instincts when we run the risk of making a mistake."

"Be more concerned with your character than with your reputation. Your character is what you really are while your reputation is merely what others think you are. - John Wooden, UCLA basketball coach

Pollack writes: "Don't give in to your fear or your lack of determination. Tomorrow is a new day. Wake up and get going! If you reach for the skies, you might not achieve your goal, but you might find you achieve more then you thought possible"

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime you just might find, you get what you need. - Rolling Stones, 'You Can't Always Get What You Want'"

Pollack is careful to avoid labeling his book as self-help. Instead, he describes it as "...a positive thinking, inspirational, avenue to 'self awareness.'"
