WATER VALLEY, Miss.

Following her 49 years of experience as a science teacher, author Constance Maxwell wrote her new children's book, "Kindergarten Explores Science" (published by AuthorHouse).

Maxwell's new book gives illustrated explanations for the basic laws of science, the beauty of nature and the story of God's creation.

Within the book, children and adults alike can find experiments on topics like the refraction of light, solar energy, balance and more, to be conducted at home or in a classroom.

Maxwell hopes her young readers achieve a greater appreciation for science and the power of God's creation of the elements used in scientific research and experimentation after reading her book.

"Young children have an inborn curiosity about everything that they can see or touch, and teachers and parents have an inborn desire to teach," Maxwell says.

An excerpt from The Bouncing Dart experiment in "Kindergarten Explores Science":

"When you examine the bouncing dart, you will see that each end of the dart has a rubber ball firmly attached to it. One rubber ball is harder than the other. Do the two rubber balls behave the same way?"
