TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - Author and registered nurse Caren Liebelt says she always had a keen interest in alternative medicines, particularly the methods used by Native Americans and Gypsies. Her interest in alternative medicine, coupled with her love of history, not only led to her discovery of the Gypsy magi, the Shuv'hanis, but also something more - the writing of her latest novel.

Liebelt invites readers to enjoy and learn from her new historical fiction "Shuv'hani: A Novel" (published by AuthorHouse), which follows a Gypsy magus destined for greatness during the Civil War.

Wren Varankai, a Gypsy immigrant, is told she will one day become a Shuv'hani, but at the cost of her family and the boy she loves.

Wren, alone in America during the Civil War, is hated as much as the slaves she tries so desperately to help. Even with her Shuv'hani powers and control of the elements, she will find her spirit and strength pushed to the limit as she attempts to help the slaves escape persecution.
