Author Bree Kayson doesn't just want to provide readers with a voyeuristic glimpse into her battle with breast cancer; she wants to inspire others to step into their own power and become the boss of their own bodies. In "Cancer Wasn't On My Bucket List! A Personal Journal" (published by Balboa Press), Kayson shares her journey of self-discovery following her cancer diagnosis, offering a story of hope and inspiration.

"There is a growing awareness of alternative choices in cancer treatment," says Kayson. "I rejected recommended chemotherapy due to the fact that it is extremely toxic and can potentially do more harm than good. Instead, I embarked on a path of integrative medicine. ... Five years post diagnosis I am still cancer free."

Kayson wants her readers to feel empowered, and find the encouragement they need to pursue alternative choices should they so desire. "It's important to educate yourself and take control of what happens to your body," she says.

Ultimately, Kayson tells a story that motivates readers to assert themselves when it comes to their own lives and to embrace the support of family and friends during a trying time in one's life.
