"Writing Handbook 2nd edition" co-authored by Bernard J. Streicher, S.J. was published by Loyola Press in 1996. It was a major revision and expansion of the original "Writing Handbook." This present volume, "From Word to Sentence: A Guide to Grammar, Usage and Sentence Style" (published by Xlibris), is significant in two ways: it is an updated version of the 1996 edition and is the first of two volumes.

This book presents a thorough examination of grammar, usage, and sentence style. It is set up as a series of rules followed by examples. Among the special features are a section on the capitalization of religious terms, an entire unit on diagraming, and a glossary of frequently confused words. In addition, there are a variety of sentence exercises, including some on inclusive language, parallel structure, and sentence combining. This book is designed as an instructional guide and as a handbook for writers and editors.
