Many debates have roiled the Catholic Church in the 21st century, including lay leadership roles, celibacy, sexual molestation, justice issues, etc. In a creative memoir of his nearly seven decades since ordination,Francis Anthony Quinn explores these issues through the vantage point of three seminarians and one woman.

In these memoirs, "Behind Closed Doors," (published by Xlibris) Bishop Quinn's narrative follows the triumphs and failures of the young seminarians into the diverse paths and challenges of ministry in the San Francisco Bay Area and global church.

The stories include Ladd Franklin, whose friendship with a sister's classmate causes alarm among parishioners. Ladd Joins International Relief Service; David Carmichael, an ambitious priest who struggles continually with the Guardians of Doctrine, GOD; and Tyler Stone, sensitive and caring, who strives to balance the ideals of celibacy with his darker desires.

Quinn, Bishop Emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Sacramento has never shied from controversy and has been an outspoken advocate for social justice and peace.
