These are urgent and crucial times - the United States and the rest of the world are facing many challenges in the first decade of the new millennium. Recession, financial turmoil, environmental changes, terrorism - these are among the pressing issues that humanity has to address if the coming decades are to turn out well. Author Rose Mary Yadegar analyzes the problems facing the nation and comes up with certain conclusions - and proposals for solutions - in her enlightening and eye-opening book, Patriotism.

Patriotism offers an in-depth discussion about the inspiring personal experiences and patriotic sentiments of the author about the USA. From giving a detailed account of the civilization and background of her Assyrian roots, to the history of the American Presidents of her new homeland, Ms. Yadegar demonstrates the impact of our Presidents' fateful decisions on our nation during and after their terms in office.

The author also gives a vivid and personal perspective of the Islamic Revolution that swept her native country of Iran and caused her family to eventually move overseas. Sweeping in scope and meticulously researched, she presents the conservative ideology that perhaps the most effective method in supporting American culture is the preservation of the old American traditions, family values, and high moral standards.
