Annie N. Duru, a Nigerian born- American social scientist and communication professor, has completed her first book "Cry Not": a gripping and potent endeavor of heart and soul forged in life and branded upon the pages of her new book. With skill and style, words flow across paper and wondrously through the mind.

On her inspiration for writing this book, author Annie N. Duru said, "I was inspired by my years of research and observation of the socio-cultural problems and challenges facing African women in the Diaspora, and African continent. Also, my standpoint as an African feminist inspired me to tell this story to show the struggles of African women when subjected to cultural and patriarchal practices. I wanted to give a voice to African women by telling this story, and I also wanted to show their resilience and self-determination."

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Annie N. Duru's poignant tale is both reflective and insightful, this work leaves no stone unturned as it examines the failures and successes of a resilient soul.

Nelson Mandela once said, "After climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb." Isi, a woman from a Nigerian tribe, ran away from her country not because of her hatred for her motherland, but because of her abusive husband, who threatened to take away her daughter from her. Now, she lives and works in New York City and found love the second time with Jude. Living happily with him, they were blessed with three children. Even though she is far away from her homeland, she never forgot her roots. She keeps the tradition of her tribe alive. And then tragedy struck when Jude dies from a car accident. Her mother-in-law, who never approved of her, forbade her to stay with her children except for Destiny, her daughter from her first marriage. More trouble awaited her as she had to perform a ridiculous ritual of widowhood. Will Isi keep on struggling? Will she ever find peace and happiness? Read and find out more on how extraordinarily strong a woman Isi is.

Readers who wish to experience this potent work can purchase "Cry Not" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
