Annette Cravera Goggio wrote "Healing: A Conversation: A Field Guide to Redemption" (published by Balboa Press) while ill with a debilitating brain infection in late 2014 and early 2015. Through her daily meditations and conversations with her spiritual guide, Jonathan, Goggio compiled a series of lessons for soul learning and emotional healing.

"Illness can sometimes be a strategy to avoid the 'unbearable'-but what appears as 'unbearable' can just be a series of 'life lessons,'" Goggio says. "With the understanding of your life as being more than what you think it is, ... you can lift yourself up and out of the emotional pain you are in and heal."

Goggio hopes the book and the lessons contained within it will help readers deal with their pain, and that it will offer "readers permission to 'talk about' their similar experiences of abuse, infidelity, risk taking, penchant toward violence, and other impermissible subjects."
