Heralded by The New Yorker's Peter Schjeldahl as "the most consequential artist to have emerged since the 1980s," Ryan Trecartin's work is seen as a watershed for its visionary understanding of the profound shifts in culture and social interaction that are defining our current moment. With a slate of exhibitions of new and recent work (created with his principal collaborator Lizzie Fitch) currently on view throughout the world and the upcoming New Museum Triennial which he is co-curating with Lauren Cornell, the artist discussed a range of his projects with FIU's assistant professor of contemporary art Alpesh Kantilal Patel.About The New Helen Venero Lecture Series at the Frost Art Museum: The Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum is thrilled to announce the launch of The Helen Venero Artist Lecture Series. The series will bring the world's most important and innovative contemporary artists to the museum twice a year. This program affords established and emerging visionary artists the opportunity to discuss their work in depth through lectures and presentations, engaging the university community and the public. Funded by a generous gift from Agustin F. Venero in honor of his late wife Helen and her work at the Frost Museum as a steadfast educator and devoted volunteer, the series seeks to expand the understanding of the work of leading figures in the art world.
