Road Less Traveled Productions' next play, Very Fine Use of a Grenade by Mark Witteveen, is a unique look at a tragic series of events that plays out in reverse. This world-premiere production travels backwards from a tense motel room encounter between two associates through a dark, twisting world emerging from the set of an independent film.

This third production in RLTP's 2013-14 season is an energetic, enigmatic story that will hold audiences rapt in suspense as the plot unfolds, revealing scenes of seduction, mysterious death and hasty decisions made in a frantic struggle for power. Directed by Doug Zschiegner, director of RLTP's 2011 Artie Award winning production of Insidious, this play features a talented cast, including RLTP Ensemble Member Kristin Tripp Kelley, John Fredo, Greg Howze and Renee Landrigan.

Witteveen, a WNY-area playwright, presents this drama to the audience in the same order he conceived it - in reverse. "It struck me as the best way to tell this story," he said. "Hollywood is fertile ground for stories. But I do hope the implications of that story move beyond that world." What results is an unusual look at the darker side of human interaction with a singular focus on the inciting incident, a final moment that occurs so naturally, it belies the explosiveness of what follows. "I always go for richness and aliveness in story, much more than specific meanings," said Witteveen. "Take care of richness and aliveness and your story will have many meanings."

Very Fine Use of a Grenade opens on Friday, January 24th and runs through Sunday, February 16th, and will be produced at the Road Less Traveled Theater in the Market Arcade Film and Arts Centre. Tickets are $35 general admission and $17 for students. Student tickets for Mighty Taco Talkback Thursday performances are only $5 (with valid college ID).
