Join Brisbane's own Southern Cross Soloists for the last concert in their 2014 series, the entertaining and cheeky Travels of a Trickster, in Queensland Performing Arts Centre's (QPAC) Concert Hall on Sunday 26 October.

The concert will see the Southern Cross Soloists collaborate for the first time with internationally renowned classical accordion player, Scottish born James Crabb.

Southern Cross Soloists Creative Director Tania Frazer said the performance is inspired by the hilarious German folklore prankster Till Eulenspiegel.

"These are such fun stories to tell, and the addition of our special guest artist, the very talented James Crabb, will make for a lively and cheerful performance," she said.

"The concert program will take you through Germany, Italy, Bohemia, Greece and Argentina, following the rogue journeys and merry pranks of the hilarious Till Eulenspiegel.

"We want to ensure Travels of a Trickster surprises audiences at every turn. Our aim is to leave you upside down, inside out and grinning from ear to ear as we present our last concert at QPAC for this year," said Ms Frazer.

James Crabb is widely regarded as one of the world's leading ambassadors of the classical accordion. Critics internationally have praised him for his dazzling virtuosity and versatile musicianship. He has performed worldwide as soloist with orchestras and ensembles including the BBC Symphony, Sydney and Melbourne Symphonies, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic, London Symphony, Hallé Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic, London Sinfonietta, Hong Kong Philharmonic and Swedish Chamber Orchestra.

An internationally successful ensemble based in Brisbane, the Southern Cross Soloists has helped set the benchmark for Australian chamber music since 1995. The ensemble is made up of individually talented and collectively powerful performers who are renowned for their informal and personal performance style, with all their concerts at QPAC presented in intimate reverse mode, where the audience are seated on stage with the Soloists.

The Southern Cross Soloists have been a Company in Residence at QPAC since 2009.
