Temperature's rising in anticipation of the festival, opening Friday 9th January, with the crazy fiddler and his crew from Canada; Jaron Freeman-Fox & The Opposite of Everything. This evening, Music By The Sea celebrates young musicians who are just doing it; experimenting, composing and performing. From an inspirational and upcoming local student of music to two fine young composer / musicians to a fiery, seasoned and unique Canadian band.

Saturday morning...firstly, it is most important to move the soul...the body will catch up later. A sublime morning raga brought to you by two masters will supplant the need for coffee. By all means, take advantage of the fine cafes nearby, afterwards! Other genres during Saturday's program include folk, world music and jazz. Saturday evening belongs to a legendary lady...the queen of saxophone and national treasure, Sandy Evans and Mantratonic.

Aah Sunday...lovers of classical music; this is your day. Angels descend upon Sandgate Town Hall in the morning and deliver musings from, not one but two violes, lute and theorbo. The rest of the day is filled with music from one of the most exciting string quartets in Australia to a young gifted Brisbane pianist who has developed a habit of winning every piano competition he enters, to four outstanding young men, demonstrating their versatility and brilliance and finally to the closing concert that honours a most esteemed Australian giant of composition, performed by an exceptional and one of the most acclaimed Australian pianists.

All performances at the Sandgate Town Hall are ticketed. FREE performances are at local venues; Cardigan Bar and Matthew Thomas Cafe in Sandgate and the EclecTea Cafe in Brighton. See website for locations and time slots. For more information about the festival visit - www.musicbythesea.com.au.
