Cape Rep continues its 30th Anniversary season with the fresh from Broadway regional premier of John Patrick Shanley’s Outside Mullingar, Tony Nominee for Best Play of 2014. Shanley, the author of Doubt and Moonstruck, explores his Irish roots in this contemporary romantic comedy set in the Irish countryside. Rosemary is approaching 40 and Anthony is already there. They should have wed long ago but insecurity, time hardened eccentricities, prickly pride, unrequited love and an epic grudge over a tiny piece of land seem insurmountable obstacles to romance. Very smart, lyrical and funny, Outside Mullingar is a treat for the ear as well as the heart.
