ON GOLDEN POND By Ernest Thompson For forty-eight years, Norman Thayer and his wife have returned to their summer home by the beautiful shores of Golden Pond. This time, however, the season holds a little more in store for the irritable Norman when his estranged adult daughter Chelsea visits and asks if the couple will watch her new fiancée’s son, Billy, while they go to Europe. Begrudgingly, Norman and Billy bond over fishing and ‘teenage slang’, growing closer than either would have anticipated. This play is a lovely illumination of a couple in their final years, basking in their treasured memories while unexpectedly making new ones.
