The Hanover Theatre celebrates Don Phipps' 85th birthday with a special concert, Sunday, October 22 at 2 p.m., featuring the White Heat Swing Quartet and David Wickerham on The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ.

The Mighty Wurlitzer was originally donated to The Hanover Theatre by Phipps, a member of the American Organ Society. The largest instrument of its kind in New England, it has been featured in numerous silent films and in The Hanover Theatre's annual production of A Christmas Carol.

As a distinguishing feature of the theatre, The Mighty Wurlitzer Organ enhances the preservation of Worcester's rich history and the traditions of the era of luxurious vaudeville theatres. Because The Hanover Theatre wishes to ensure that The Mighty Wurlitzer is properly cared for and remains a fitting legacy to the work of Don Phipps and the organ team, the theatre established The Mighty Wurlitzer Fund to preserve, maintain and share this special gift with the community.

The Don Phipps' 85th Birthday Concert event is open and free to the public. All donations to this celebratory event will support The Mighty Wurlitzer Fund. Tickets are available online at TheHanoverTheatre.org, by phone at 877.571.SHOW (7469) or at The Hanover Theatre box office located at 2 Southbridge Street in downtown Worcester.
