The Cape Playhouse at the Cape Cod Center for the Arts has received an unprecedented $88,000 Challenge Grant, the largest grant ever received by the not-for-profit professional theater. The record setting matching grant, donated by a family foundation that wishes to remain anonymous, was given to celebrate The Playhouse's recently concluded summer season, its 88th.

The foundation will match all tax-deductible contributions to The Cape Playhouse from now through December 31st during its Fall Annual Fund Appeal.

President of the Cape Cod Center for the Arts Board of Directors, Richard B, Hawes, Jr. stated "We are honored to have received this special Challenge Grant. I am extremely grateful to this donor for a very generous gift and I take this opportunity to thank all of our donors for their vigorous support."

Producer and Chief Executive Mark Cuddy exclaimed "What a testament to the artists and staff of our 2014 Season! The generosity and confidence of this extraordinary donor is a leading example of our community's support of this cherished cultural jewel. I know that many of our supporters will want to join them now to double their donation as we head into our 89th Season with tremendous excitement."

The Cape Playhouse finished its six-show 2014 Summer Season on August 30th, and presented a special September engagement of MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL. Titles for the 2015 Season will announced in November.
