If I Forget and Other Plays - by Steven Levenson

If I Forget and Other Plays by Steven Levenson

"Passionate and provoking." ?New York Times on If I Forget

"Plays about the conflict in Iraq have mostly focused on the experience of soldiers or the politicians who put them in danger, but Steven Levenson's sensitive drama is welcome for the imaginative sympathy it extends to the families left behind." ?New York Times on The Language of Trees

"The electricity in the room is palpable. . . . Levenson's dialogue is lean, dynamic and flows naturally." ?Time Out New York on The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin

Enchanting the Broadway theatre scene with the smash hit Dear Evan Hansen, Steven Levenson has quickly settled in as one of the major emerging voices in contemporary drama. In this new collection of plays, which also includes The Language of Trees and The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin, Levenson explores the conflicts that drive families apart and the indelible ties that bring them back together. Through flawed but deeply human characters, these works examine how the allegiances of family are forged not only by what we collectively remember, but also by what we are willing to forget.

Steven Levenson's plays include The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin (Outer Critics Circle John Gassner Memorial Play writing Award), Core Values (Drama Desk Nomination for Outstanding Play), The Language of Trees, Seven Minutes in Heaven, and the book for Dear Evan Hansen, with music and lyrics by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Tony Award for Best Musical). He is a founding member of Colt Coeur and an alumnus of MCC's Playwrights Coalition and Ars Nova's Play Group.
