MAMMA MIA! tour review 8/5/06

WOW! All I can say is WOW! How fun was that?! The lighting was beautiful and the band was beyond wonderful. Duplicate of the Broadway show.

Full cast was in.

Carrie Manolakos is the BEST Sophie I have seen hands down. Tina Maddigan was great, yes, but... Oh my, she rocked. GREAT voice. VERY cute. On top of her game. She made me love and want to play the role

I was worried about Laurie Wells as Donna. It was a roller coaster for the first few minutes. She came on strong, but her MAMMA MIA! was not as intense as I feel it could have been looking back... because she was *excellent* after MM! and brought the house the down with THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL. I can actually see her as Margaret in LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA someday.

Great mother/daughter chemistry.

Sean Allan Krill as Sam was perfect. Cute, gorgeous tenor and lots of chemistry with Laurie. The best Sam ever IMO.

Laura Ware as Rosie was a standout. She was great with her TAKE A CHANCE ON ME. I would like to see her take on Donna... Lisa Mandel as Tanya had understudied Ulla in THE PRODUCERS and it showed. She was OK, but did not really shine... Donna & The Dynamos had a GREAT harmony, however.

Corey Greenan did not impress me at all as Sky Carrie powered all their scenes and he left me like "What does cool, hip Sophie see in him?"

The audience adored the show.
